How to Correct Your Posture

Chiropractic adjustments improve posture, joint motion, reduce muscle tension, and improve nerve flow so the brain can hold a healthier spinal position. My nemesis as a patient has always involved my shoulder blades so here’s how chiropractic is effective below the neck:

In the middle and upper back, restricted vertebrae, tight and imbalanced muscles, and weak shoulders cause upper torso slumping, rounded shoulders and a hunched posture. You know what I mean. You're probably guilty of it, too.

  • Adjustments restore proper motion, reduce tension in the shoulder blade muscles and improve shoulder blade  position — so shoulders sit back more naturally and breathing eases. Adjustments also allow the torso to align better over the pelvis and hips.  You know, centered.

In the lower back and pelvic areas, pelvic rotation or tilt combined with lumbar misalignments change the way you move. Adjustments to the sacroiliac joints and lumbar joints rebalances the pelvis and hips.

  • Adjustments normalize the low back curve, and reduce muscle guarding — leading to a steadier, less fatigued stance and smoother movement.  Everybody wants some freedom of movement!

Lasting postural change usually combines adjustments with soft-tissue work (which I always do at each office visit). And, of course, EXERCISE IS IMPERATIVE! It is a must to maintain your strength.

If you are reading this, you are probably fully aware that all of this stuff is an ongoing issue, and that’s why you are on a care plan at this office.  And let’s face it, a good, deep adjustment between the shoulder blades can be an instant game-changer, akin to hitting your reset button.

I hope to see you soon!

Stay well adjusted,

Dr. Dan Kammer
