Benefits of Stretching Daily

It’s no mystery that stretching your muscles, tendons, ligament and joints is a very good idea.  The list of benefits is quite long, here are a few:

  •  Decreases stiffness
  •  Increases range of motion
  •  Relieves post workout achiness
  •  Helps reduce stress
  •  Improves mechanical efficiency
  •  Promotes circulation
  •  Decreases the risk of low back pain
  •  Reduces tension and enhances relaxation

If you really want to incorporate stretching into your life, commit to doing it every day.  Repetition and consistency is the only way to produce and maintain gains. At the very least, stretching will prevent or slow ongoing, natural loss of motion.  Research proves small amounts of daily stretching far exceeds the benefits of occasional heavy stretching. You can get a lot done in 5-10 minutes and you’ll be surprised at the benefits.

It is too cumbersome to put stretching into words. This is where the internet comes into play.  Please take a minute and do an internet search (Bob and Brad series on YouTube for example)) for 5 to 10 minute stretching routines. Watch a few of them and pick one you know you can and will do. You won’t regret it.
