Headaches

Behind low back pain and neck pain, headaches are the next most common complaint in chiropractic offices. That’s a lot of headaches! As you may have experienced, there are many different types of headaches and they are often very difficult to describe--but you know it when you’ve got it, right?

One type of of headache I see frequently is what is known as a CERVICOGENIC headache. Let’s break that down:

Cervico= Neck

Genic= Origin

So, your neck causes headaches. But, cervicogenic headaches are unique in that they tend to be one-sided and start near the base of the skull and radiate to the side of the head, the ear/jaw area and in/around the eye orbit and upper cheek area. The upper neck area is treated in the majority of these cases and chiropractic is very effective in addressing these issues. Of course, this is determined on a case by case basis.

Headaches are horrible, let me know if you’ve been having problems like this.

Stay well adjusted,
